Excel 2016 (Mac) Session 3

In this half-day session, you will learn Excel's data management and summarization tools, which let you turn large amounts of raw data into concise, meaningful reports and charts.

This course will let you import external data, convert data into a table, apply automatic totals and use AutoFilter to show only rows that meet your criteria. You will sort by multiple columns, generate automatic subtotals on sorted data, including multi-level subtotals. Finally, you will create PivotTables and PivotCharts to automatically and fluidly summarize data by three or more variables.

Course Outline  

Working with Data in Tables:

• importing data from text files
• converting data into a table
• applying tables styles and totals row
• using AutoFilter to find records
• creating custom AutoFilter criteria
• sorting tables by one or many fields 

Summarizing with Subtotals:

• generating sub- and grand totals 
• outlining to show only sub- and grand totals
• creating multi-level subtotals

Summarizing with PivotTables:

• creating PivotTables
• formatting numbers and labels
• rearranging PivotTable fields
• using report fields
• refreshing PivotTable data 
• creating calculated fields 
• creating and using PivotCharts

Audience: This class is suited for people who have taken Excel sessions 1 and 2 or been using Excel (any version) for a year or more and want to learn Excel's powerful tools for managing and summarizing long lists of data.
