What you'll learn in this glass fusing class:

Students will get a serious, comprehensive introduction to the process of fusing glass during this 1 session class. Glass cutting will be taught, glass varieties and COE will be discussed, kiln use will be covered. Students will be shown how to build their own set of dichroic cabochons (1 pair for earrings and 1 larger for pendant) ready to begin firing by the 30 minute break.

Students will have the opportunity to be involved in the kiln control and watch the full-fuse firing through the viewing window of our kiln.

After the break, students will build an additional pendant piece which will include a resist to create a horizontal stringing channel ready to be fired at by the end of class (all fused pieces may be picked-up 3 to 4 days after your class).

Materials and tool use provided through a separate class fee. The cabochons created may be used in metal clay work, beaded over, wire wrapped or bezel set in one of our other classes. Smaller cabochons may simply be glued to earring posts or a pendant bail to create instant jewelry. Or, take our Metals 2 class to learn how to set your cabs in silver!
