Join Nance Klehm and Liz McCarthy (of GnarWare) for a weekend of pit firing, Pachamanka, and workshops. This weekend of camping and programming will culminate in a pit firing of participants’ wares Saturday evening.
Participants will have open access to GnarWare Workshops at the start of September and 25lbs of clay to make objects for the firing.
The weekend camping will start Friday evening though Sunday afternoon. Join us starting on Friday night for heavy lifting, or just come for the spectacle and programing all of Saturday. Freeport is a 2.5 hour drive from Chicago. We ask you bring your own food to cook (fridge on site).
Workshops and Activities: Sauna (Friday), Pit Firing prep and process, Raw clay harvesting and processing, seed collection (for planting on the land), fungal forage, Outdoor Pizza ovens, Yoga
More stuff to do in the Area: Jane Addams Museum, Bio-dynamic Winery, Union Dairy Tour.
You will need to bring all your own camping gear and weather/work appropriate attire. This event is in the outdoor elements. Nice dogs are welcome, but there are predators in the area.
