Cooking Fundamentals Workshop (Hands On)

Take a guided tour of the fundamentals of cooking. You'll build your culinary knowledge, learn to season and taste, connect to your ingredients, explore mise en place, concentrate on continuous knife skills to speed up your prep in the kitchen, and experience a new set of cooking skills. New cooks will develop a great base from which to explore the world of cooking; and experienced home cooks will gain a better understanding of how, why and when various techniques work. And no matter what your current level of experience, at the end of this workshop, you will have a better understanding of creating great food. 

On the menu: 

• Poached Citrus Salmon with Citrus Vinaigrette (fundamental vegetable cuts, poaching and emulsifications)
• Sauteed Chicken Breasts with Basil Cream (boning poultry, fundamentals of saute and simple pan sauce)
• Braised Beef Short Ribs with Red Wine Reduction (trimming, browning and moist heat meat cooking, fundamentals of reduction)
• Wild Mushroom Risotto (cleaning, trimming and cutting mushrooms, fundamental risotto technique)
• Salted Chocolate Caramel Tart (fundamental pastry techniques, working with chocolate and caramel preparation).
