What you'll learn in this kids acting class:

This exciting new class teaches students the differences between acting for the stage and acting for the camera. Students will learn the various types of shots/coverage, matching, hitting marks, filming in bits and pieces, shooting out of order, and terminology regarding film scripts and who’s who in the crew on a set.

And the best part?

Students will be cast in an independent short film written specifically for them and directed by their award-winning instructor, Janet B. Milstein. Students will participate in a small-scale professional film shoot and put what they’ve learned to the test. There is no better way to learn what it’s really like to be on a set and make a film than to actually do it. Plus, all students will receive a digital copy of the edited, final film footage that they can use for their acting reel! In addition, students will have earned a film acting credit to list on their resumes. And to top it all off, students will be given IMDb credit for their role in the film.

At the end of the class, there will be a screening of the film a the Studio so that students can bring friends and family to showcase their work!

Students will learn about:
  • Differences in acting for the camera versus the stage
  • Different types of camera shots/coverage
  • Hitting marks
  • Film Vocabulary/Terminology including script abbreviations and who’s who on a film set
  • Gain real-life skills on their shoot to help them prepare for future, upcoming film shoots
