Home Garden Design Workshop

Learn the basics of home garden design and installation. With a mix of lectures, workshops, and walks, you will create a plan for your home garden that incorporates plant spacing, plant selection, and the importance of dynamic bed lines. Garden walks will be included. Dress for the weather.

Description
What you'll learn in this botanical art class:
Offered in collaboration with the Chicago Botanic Garden. Utilizing the rich resources of the Chicago Botanic Garden and School of the Art Institute of Chicago, explore traditional botanical illustration techniques and materials with room for play and experimentation. Develop Plein Air observational skills with a focus on botany as you identify plants and their parts, learn paint handling and pictorial composition, and reference historical examples of the portrayal of nature, both real and imagined, from abstraction to Impressionism and photo-realism.
No prior experience with gouache paint is required.
This course will meet at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago on Friday and Chicago Botanic Garden on Saturday and Sunday.

Refund Policy
FOR ADULTS:
- 100 percent tuition refund one week prior to first class.
- No refunds will be issued less that one week prior to first class.
- 100 percent tuition refund prior to Friday, May 13.
- 100 percent tuition refund less $100 cancellation fee after May 13 and prior to the second class.
- No refunds will be issued after the second class has met.
