The Expressive Body: A Two-day Alexander Technique Intensive for Actors
It’s easy to get tense and clench up your body when you perform. Tension creeps in when we’re nervous, self conscious, or afraid of not being enough.
Imagine the most beautiful nights sky the world has ever seen-but its covered by a layer of thick, gray clouds. It doesn’t matter how gorgeous it is–you would never see it.
Tension in the actor’s body works in much the same way. No matter how sensitive and transcendent the work an actor brings to the table is, if their body carries an unnecessary layer of tension the audience may never know.
In this two day intensive rooted in the Alexander Technique, we will take a deep dive into your body as an actor and how to let go of effort and tension that stands in the way of letting your best work shine through. We will build a vital and joyous connection to your body in performance give you a set of ‘body-based superpowers’ that can help you to express your best work clearly and effortlessly to your audience.
In addition to numerous exercises and techniques, every participant will get personal coaching on an artistic piece of their choice.
