What you'll learn in this architecture class:

The built environment -- where we live, work, and entertain privately or in public -- was designed by someone at some time. In this course, students develop an understanding of the architectural design process and its impact on outcome. Topics will cover historical and contemporary architecture, freehand drawing, and representation through mechanical means. The drawing components are introductory in nature, preparing students with the basic skills and confidence required to pursue further study in drawing or design at SAIC and other institutions.

Field trips, readings, and class projects provide an overview of both the science and art of designing buildings.

All levels of experience are welcome.

A leader in educating artists, designers, and scholars since 1866, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) offers nationally accredited degree programs as well as Continuing Studies programs for adults and children, ages 4-18. Considered one of the most influential art and design schools in the world, SAIC has continuing studies programs available to all skill levels. Students develop their creative and critical abilities while working with renowned faculty, utilizing state-of-the-art resources, and visiting the breath-taking galleries at the Art Institute of Chicago
