Claudio Alongi

Teaches at La Scuola at Eataly Chicago

Claudio Alongi is a Valtellina native that grew up with the legendary wines of Nino Negri.

Studying at the renowned Istituto San Michele all’Adige in Trentino, Claudio received a diploma in winemaking. He then continued his studies, obtaining a degree in enology at the University of Milan. Following his formal studies, Claudio did a series of intern-ships in Valtellina, Trentino and Tuscany to develop his practical skills with seasoned winemakers. He then took a position at Gruppo Italiano Vini, working at properties in Piemonte and the Veneto. In 2004, Claudio became a member of the winemaking team at Nino Negri, headed by Casimiro Maule, the patriarch of Valtellina winemaking.

In addition to his responsibilities in the winery, Claudio has served as an advisor at the Consorzio di Barbera and is currently an advisor for the Consorzio di Valtellina. Always looking to expand his knowledge, Claudio is currently studying for his WSET diploma.
