Taylor Wendel

Teaches at Chicago Dance

Taylor Wendel began her journey as a healer from a very young age, practicing yoga, meditation, and energy work as a part of her daily life. She was always aware of the ability to heal herself through alignment of mind and body. Later in her youth, she took a deep interest in dance, specifically lyrical jazz and hip hop, and trained heavily for several years. 

Taylor credits her fluid, expressive teaching style and body awareness to her dance training. Fresh out of college, she became a certified yoga and fitness instructor, as she took on an internship at a very successful, woman-owned fitness organization called The Barre Code. There, she learned to teach a variety of fitness classes, ranging from classic barre to cardio kickboxing. She received a thorough education in kinesiology, with a heavy focus on the mind-body connection. Later, she acted as Co-Head of the Baryasa program, creating barre-yoga fusion routines and developing the teacher training program. 

Taylor received her RYT 200 from Corepower Yoga, specializing in the styles of vinyasa and power yoga. Here, she was also deeply educated in the body’s structures, functions, chakras and energy lines. It was here that she first learned to incorporate yoga bodywork and aromatherapy into her classes. In 2016, Taylor established her own business, Sweat for the Soul, which offers various styles of yoga fusion fitness (vinyasa, power, exotic, restorative) blended with bodywork, aromatherapy, sound healing and meditation. 

She now offers weekly classes at Chicago Dance, in addition to private sessions. She currently attends the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine and will graduate with a certification to practice Asian Massage and Bodywork in the summer of 2019, and plans to return for her Acupuncture certification the following year.
