Naomi Rosenkranz

Teaches at Chicago Dance

Naomi Rosenkranz is the Project Manager for the Making and Knowing Project, a research cluster at Columbia University that studies historical artisanal, craft, and technical processes through laboratory reconstructions of historical recipes. Naomi studied physics at Barnard College and served as the Science Resident in Conservation with the Ancient Ink Lab, identifying and characterizing ancient carbon-based inks.

She continued her investigation of colorants at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, working with the departments of Scientific Research and Paper Conservation to examine medieval iron-tannate black inks and dyes through recipe reconstructions and spectral analysis of museum objects. Naomi also has experience in scenic construction and arts education, and is an avid dyer and knitter.
