Sarah Salovaara is a filmmaker and writer from New York City. Her work is primarily concerned with the retooling of gender roles and genre tropes. In 2017, her series, Let Me Die a Nun, starring Ana Fabrega and Hari Nef, was nominated for a Gotham Independent Film Award.

Upcoming projects include a BRIC TV show entitled The Future Is Then; a short called Lucky Dog; and a currently untitled feature about a late-in-life lesbian who travels to Cuba for sex tourism. She is an alumna of the 2018 NYFF Artist Academy and an editor at Filmmaker Magazine.
