Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this pottery wheel class:

Have you always wanted to try out the the pottery wheel but not quite ready to sign up for an entire session? This one time introductory class lets you get your hands dirty on the wheel without the time commitment.

You will experience how thrilling it is to get the clay spinning on the wheel while we explain the basics of centering and pulling up the walls of the clay. Since any work made on the pottery wheel requires more than one session to finish the pieces, none of the work will be completed in this class. We make lots of pottery to take home in our Adult Classes.

The teacher seemed unprepared for the number of people in the class and we weren’t even allowed to take anything home that we made.

Great class. We were hands-on right away and got to shape a few "finished" pieces even though there wasn't a follow up class to actually finish them.

Val was a great instructor. Perfect amount of time to learn the basics of the wheel and practice. I really enjoyed this class and am now looking to take a full class! Perfect intro class for beginners.

My daughter and I took this course. After a brief introduction and prepping the clay, we were put right on the wheel and for the next two hours we created, made mistakes, recycled our clay and kept trying until by the end of the night we actually had some vases, pots, even a plate! We had so much fun - learning by doing, learning by making mistakes and trying over and over and over again. My only regret is that we could not keep anything we did (but this was clearly spelled out before we even enrolled). My daughter and I have the bug and we will be back for a series of classes that will lead to fired, permanent pieces. If you ever wanted to experience wheel throwing, take this course. It is a blast.
