Digital Photo for Teens: Telling Stories

Photography has many purposes, but one of its most powerful is the ability to tell stories.  People will always love a good story, and we believe learning to tell stories, whether personal, narrative or documentary, is critical to a young person's imagination and future. 

In this 9 week class for teens, we are focusing on telling stories.  What stories guide us?  What stories move us?  We will discover some new threads, hone our powers of observation, and challenge each other and ourselves to build a tale that is best illustrated in photographs.  Using many of our new skills developed in Digital Photo I, students will learn how to apply that technical knowledge to unique and creative ends.  Each student will be encouraged to tell their own story, as our supportive class environment provides a framework for experimentation and feedback.

At class end we'll create a collective group exhibition, showcasing each student's final projects, open to family and friends.

Who should take this class?

This beginner/intermediate workshop is great for tweens and teens 11-16 years of age who want to use their blossoming photography skills towards accomplishing a goal. 

What to bring

Your camera, fully-charged batteries, and a clean-formatted memory card.

Prerequisites

Beginner photography knowledge is encouraged.  Digital Photo I for Teens or similar class strongly recommended.
