Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this medical training:

This course is designed for current Allied Health Professionals and Clinical Research Coordinators to learn how to perform EKGs on patients under the supervision of a Medical Professional and Phlebotomy to collect and prepare blood and other specimen collections ordered by a licensed Health Provider. This course teaches both skill competencies to make you more marketable within the health care field. [Note: All hand on skills will be done using simulation manikin]

Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive a Certificate of Completion. This class does not qualify you to sit for the National Certification exams.

Note:

  • The first and last sessions of the training will be done remotely via zoom
  • The final session will only be 1 hour long
  • In person sessions are held at the NY SIMS lab

School Notes: Please don't forget to bring a valid ID. Students registering on or after the first day of class shall be assessed a non-refundable late registration fee of $10.00.

Refund Policy

Tuition refunds are calculated in accordance with the Tuition Refund Policy for those students who officially drop a class or classes during the first three weeks of the semester. Fees are not refundable.

  • Drops prior to the first day of the semester: 95% Tuition Refund
  • Drops during the first calendar week of the semester: 75% Tuition Refund
  • Drops during the second calendar week of the semester: 50% Tuition Refund
  • Drops during the third calendar week of the semester: 25% Tuition Refund
  • No refund after the third calendar week of the semester.

Tuition will be refunded 100 percent for those courses which, at any time, are cancelled by the College. Failure to attend class, merely giving notice to the instructor, or stopping payment on a check is not considered an official drop or withdrawal.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.

Hi there. You are eligible for the training. You must be aware that this training is solely a certificate program and not a certification one. Students are not eligible to sit for the National certification. If you are looking to become certified this is not the course for you as they do not do live Venipunctures, capillaries, and EKGs.

Hi there! Preferably you should be an Allied Health Professional and not a student. If you still want to take the course for the information itself you are more than welcomed to but understand that this is not a certification course. You will not be eligible to sit for a National certification exam of any kind. Hope this helps!

Hi Cassandra! The requirement is that a student must be an Allied Health Professional; the training is not limited to only nurses. But anyone registering for the course should be someone who is working in the Allied Health field in a medical facility.

In this class, students complete hands-on training with professional medical equipment. Students perform EKGs on patients (under the supervision of a medical professional), collect blood, and label the specimen collection tubes with the patient’s name and date of birth. All hands-on skills will be done using the simulation mannequins (no live EKG, venipuncture and capillaries done).
