Amanda Keil

Amanda Keil (rhymes with smile) is a classically trained singer, teacher, writer and impresario. As a singer she has appeared with a range of companies, including the Oregon Bach Festival, Boston Camerata, Guerilla Opera, and DiCapo Opera. Amanda is the founder and artistic director of Musica Nuova, which brings staging and storytelling to Baroque songs (musicanuova.org). She has won awards from the Anna Sosenko Trust, the Open Meadows Foundation, and the Paul R. Judy Center for this work.

Amanda is a certified Music Together teacher, bringing the joy of music-making to grown-ups and the kids who love them. In the classroom she has taught singing to elementary schoolers (Brooklyn-Queens Conservatory), directed Alice in Wonderland and oversaw the theatre program (BB&N Summer Camp), and helped children compose their own songs (Boston Cantata Singers). In her parallel career as a non-profit grantwriter, she has taught grantseeking workshops at Bard College, Brandeis University, and adult education centers. Amanda writes about singing and music for OPERA America, Classical Singer magazine and her blog, thousandfoldecho.com. She holds a Bachelors in French Horn Performance from The Hartt School and a Masters in Voice and Historical Performance from Boston University.
