Bryan Ladd

Teaches at New York City Guitar School

Bryan Ladd grew up in the Hartford, Connecticut area and began playing bass when he was 11 years old. His father is an accomplished bass player, so there was always an instrument in the house. Bryan instinctively gravitated towards the bass once he became big enough to actually hold it. With his father as a mentor, Bryan spent most of high school checking out a great deal of funk/R&B/Motown music and began gigging regularly around Connecticut and New York. The groups he performed in played a broad span of music ranging from Steely Dan to James Brown. In 2002, Bryan began studying jazz at Berklee College of Music on a generous scholarship from the school. While at Berklee, Bryan had the great privilege of performing with such artists as Kenwood Dennard, Chaka Kahn, Russell Ferrante, Terry Lynn Carrington, George Duke, Marcus Baylor, John Blackwell, Melvin Sparks, and Jean Baylor. Since graduating from college, Bryan has had the honor of performing at many prestigious musical events throughout the country, including the 2005 Monterey Jazz Festival, The 2006 Next Generation Festival, and The 2007 NYC Musical Theater festival. He currently resides in New York City and is a regular performer on the nightclub circuit.

Great course, though I wish it were more than one hour a week!
