This was a varied but manageable introduction to canning. I really appreciated that we got to take home sweets, savory and something to prep for a meal (marinara). I thought the facilities were superb, and the general vibe was terrific. I would absolutely take another class from Chef Jen or anything at the JCC.

I really enjoy it. I knew how to make bread and a few other techniques, but i didn’t feel like wasting my time. Loved the place and materials, everything neat and organized. I learned and had fun. Thanks!

Fall Harvest Pies

The class was exactly as described - we got to make four different pies: pecan pie, apple pie, a savory quiche, and a pumpkin pie. They tasted pretty good. We were divided into groups, so a group of three or four would work on a pie together. There wasn't quite enough time to bake all the pies properly, they came out more of a par-bake. The instructor was knowledgeable enough. I would take this class again if I hated cleaning up in my own kitchen, didn't have pie-making equipment, and didn't want to go shopping for ingredients; otherwise you're really just following a recipe that you could very well do at home.
