Of Cherokee and Lakota ancestry, Lewis Mehl-Madrona, MD, PhD, is a board-certified family practice physician, geriatrician, psychiatrist, and author of Coyote Medicine and, more recently, Healing the Mind through the Power of Story: the Promise of Narrative Psychiatry. He is the executive director of the Coyote Institute and its Center for Narrative and Indigenous Studies in Brattleboro, Vermont, where he also has a private practice.  

Barbara Mainguy is a body centered psychotherapist, co-author of Remapping Your Mind: The Neuroscience of Self-Transformation Through Story and Education Director of the Coyote Institute in Orono, Maine.
