Mike baker is an award winning staff photographer at the Los Angeles daily news, and has been since 1992. He got his start in photography in high school, where he was "hooked" after his very first class. He has not looked back since. He obviously enjoys photography as an art form, but more than that, he has found it provides the perfect opportunity to talk to strangers he finds it very important to engage socially with one's subjects. Since his early start, he has photographed every president since Nixon, the academy awards, the Emmy awards, the NBA finals, the super bowl, and the rose bowl. He is far from a snob, though, insisting that he is equally satisfied with shooting a nice picture in someone's backyard. Photography has led him throughout Mexico, Central and South America.
