Go ahead and wear your heart on your sleeve! Embroidered patches add flair and style to any ensemble. These can be attached to your denim jacket or tote bag or can be given as personalized gifts. In our beginner-friendly class, we’ll give you a rundown on the basics of this classic craft and stitch special vote patterns to encourage others to get out and VOTE!
In just under 2 hours you’ll learn:
- how to use felt to create a patch
- how to create and transfer your design onto felt
- the basics of selecting the perfect thread
- how to start and end your patch embroidery project
- how to create essential embroidery stitches, such as the running stitch, back stitch, and blanket stitch
- how to attach your patch (e.g. on coats or tote bags)
Please note that instructions will last approximately 1.5 hours and then there will be 30 minutes for Q&A as well as practice. Throughout this workshop we encourage you to get to know your fellow Jammers. This class is beginner-friendly; no experience necessary!
Suggested supplies:

- PDF download of VOTE patch designs (the file will be attached to your Eventbrite ticket email)
Neither is an option for you? Look around your home for your true DIY-ad-hoc-emergency-embroidery-kit. Maybe you have a sewing kit from your last hotel stay? Search for woven fabric that can be cut up! You can start with a needle, thread, and pretty much any piece of (woven) fabric. These might not be the ideal supplies, but enough to participate to get those creative juices flowing.
And this is how a WebJam works:
After you purchase your ticket (via the Eventbrite link on this page), you will receive an email with a custom URL link to join. You will be able to add the event to your calendar. Reminder emails will be sent 2 hour and 45 minutes prior to the start. Make sure to login 10 minutes before the WebJam starts to avoid technical difficulties that may delay you.
While using Zoom we strongly recommend video participation. Unlike traditional webinars, we’re keeping our classes small and intimate. CraftJam was founded to foster community amongst its participants and part of this is seeing and interacting with each other as well as the option to receive feedback and support for your projects from your JamMaster.
School Notes:
We are BYOB friendly! Crafting is paired best with your favorite drink of choice! But, you must be 21 or over. Younger? Just have a mocktail. No one will notice ;)
