45 minute class per lesson
Beginner Students:
Students get behind the drum set from their first lesson. You will get familiar with the standard 5 piece drum set (learning the names of each piece of the set), exploring techniques, notation, rudiments, counting, backbeats and fills. Practice tips and daily exercises will be given to work on at home. My core philosophy is that the best way for
students to gain musical proficiency is through daily exercises and working on music geared to the students interests.
Intermediate Students:
Students will start to develop independence, learning more rhythmic vocabulary, continuing to work on their reading, playing along to tracks, experimenting with various grooves and styles and continuing to work on keeping good time and having a good feel.
Advanced Students:
Odd time signatures, displacement, metric modulation, polyrhythms, soloing and improvisation, sight reading, subdivision
What to bring:
- Comfortable clothing
- Notebook
- Folder for handouts
Class runs for 45 minutes per lesson. The student selects his/her preferred start time from the available schedule.
