Whether you’re looking for a fun after school activity, an outlet for creativity, a chance to try something new and challenging, or looking to take Broadway by storm—this school has something for the artist/actor in all kids!
Mission As a school, they are a performing arts development company committed to challenging and supporting young, impassioned artists and their communities. Through the study and exploration of the performing arts, the creation of ambitious theatrical experiences, and the production of educational/outreach events, they will provide opportunities for up and-coming artists to receive the highest quality theater training, gain greater senses of self, spread awareness and ignite change through art, and have their voices heard.
Philosophy The school is committed to the art of acting. It is designed to guide children and teens in the development and maintenance of a strong acting technique and skill set. Relying on their award-winning, method-based technique, they enable actors of all ages/levels to bring a necessary, unforgettable, and highly sought-after sense of honestly and naturalism to any/all characters and texts. It is their philosophy that actors must create real life on stage and film–the work should be 3 dimension, in the moment, and full of truth. Through the fun, yet focused study of sense memory, script logic, subtext analysis, character/scene structure, actors from this school become well-trained, professional artists while retaining their individuality and raw talent.
What They Teach Acting, like all art forms, requires an investment in the study and practice of technique just as it requires creative and imaginative risk. Their award-winning, Method-based technique focuses on bringing an actor’s own life experience and understanding to character and scene work. Through the exploration and mastery of essential acting tools such sense memory (personalization, private moment, and emotional event), scene and character study, script logic, subtext analysis, improvisation, and more, students move beyond pretending and role-playing and learn to create real life on stage and/or screen.
