Ginger Lou

Ginger was fantastic! She made collaging super accessible for me as a beginner. She also ran great demos and easily answered all of our questions. She was extremely invested in giving us a positive experience and followed through in every way. I feel well-positioned to take up collaging as a hobby. Would 100% recommend this course as a fun activity for yourself or with family, if you are interested in a new hobby, or want to sharpen your skills.

Gina walked us through the basics of collage and she did a collage as we worked on ours to illustrate key things. I'm sure if the class had more experience that she would have adapted to that leve. But it was exactly what I was looking for.

Ginger Lou was very patient with us newbies! We learned a knitting scarf technique using size 17 needles and 3 strands of yarn. The two hours went by quickly & I have a new fun hobby to enjoy.

The class was phenomenal and the teacher was beyond excellent!

I enjoyed so much about it .... it was not intimidating , we were able to ask questions and interact ( three friends on with me) and it was so therapeutic and relaxing. I did feel the instruction for ME might have been better if we FIRST watched the teacher create and then moved on to our piece. Maybe we could have done that… But I think I was so excited to start working that I was not paying attention to what the teacher was creating and I missed a lot. I loved her finished product but I didn’t feel like I remembered how she got all of those steps done because I was working on my own which was totally different. I would definitely try the class again. I have told many friends and they are all seem to be very interested in taking the course. Marcia

Ginger was very sweet and patient however she really didn’t teach much. She taught how to cast on in a very strange way. She also used 3 pieces of yarn at one time instead of one piece which made it a bit more difficult. Additionally, when Ginger was showing her knitting she was using fluffy/stringy yarn instead of basic, single color yarn and it was very difficult to see the individual stitches. Would have liked to learn purl stitch as well.

This class was awesome! Very informative and Ginger (the instructor) is wonderful!!

fun, good teacher

It was amazing to watch Ginger Lou create such a beautiful piece. Living in Sydney (Australia) the time difference was such that it was 5am when the course began. I had intentions of getting up and creating but ended up staying in bed and watching instead. I was actually glad as I could really see how Ginger Lou worked layers into her collage. I can't wait to give it a go!

While the instructor may have been skilled, she was not a communicator. She did not have the students intro themselves and did not ask what we wished to accomplish. There were only 3 of us soI it was doable. She wondered off topic and seemed to ramble a bit. My piece was not really a creation reflecting any new info and i left the chat after 1 hour. M

We did not last very long on this course- it was not really what we were expecting. I had assumed the instructor was going to give us ideas on how to structure a collage and artistic direction. She may have gone over that but we disconnected after about 20-30 minutes of the class. The first 20-30 minutes was watching her start a collage and we were not really interested in that. She was very lovely and again, she may have spoken to our needs but we disconnected early.

So much fun! Loved the instructor and the time flew by. I have a wonderful piece of art at the end. Met lots of fun people on the zoom meeting. Highly recommend!

Instructor Ginger Lou explainEd and showed things as she went along. Very creative laid back class is just what I needed!

I really appreciated that Ginger Lou allowed the option of merely listening in and watching, for participants who didn't want to turn on their cameras and microphones. Full participation is great and a number of participants chose that option, but to know it wasn't mandatory opened up the class more. Thank you!

I enjoyed the class overall,I was expecting more content and more examples of Collage. The instructor was fun and free flowing , my only critique is , After the beginning conversations about how to get everyone in the Zoom room, she spoke at length about the variety of materials that can be used, and then she just started to build her college, I had to enquire about when to begin our project because I wasn't sure if we were copying her or starting our own piece. I would take another class.

Ginger Lou is endlessly patient and very clear.

Well structured.

Ginger was an incredibly engaging teacher, very helpful in describing techniques etc. She also had a well placed camera that allowed us to watch her work (which is soothing in itself)! As a total beginner to collage, my one ask would have been a bit more structure or even a ‘sip and paint ‘ style tutorial as a blank canvas can be very intimidating.

Very easy to see what instructor was doing. Easy to folllow step by step. Talented artist.

Ginger Lou was lovely, but discovered that “mixed media” is not my thing. I did a 2-dimensional collage instead and loved it. Will move on to a watercolor class next month.

Nice combo of instruction and creative stimulation. Fun being able to chat with other students and see what they made.

I liked the class a lot. The instructor was knowledgeable, interesting and presented a lot of material. Ginger Sue answered my questions with good examples. One annoying factor was that other participants did not mute their video so we would be looking at various people who had just spoken; and it would take awhile for it to return to the artist.

Really fun and informative

Thoroughly enjoyed Ginger’s collage class. I loved the first class so much that I signed up for a second one. Ginger is a very giving teacher, going through her entire process from start to finish. That was the best for me....seeing her thought process as she picked out her images and why. I’d take it again and highly recommend it.

I’ve been collaging and painting just a few months so this course showed further ideas and particularly other supplies and paints.

I enjoyed seeing the different ways to develop a base of color and abstract imagery to work from.

Ginger Lou was a very enjoyable teacher. The class was fun and enjoyable.

Learned about different kinds of glues and other finishing products. Lots of suggestions of where to get material. Learned a lot by just watching her do the collage. I highly recommend it.

Nice class to get myself back into a fun, no pressure art project. Ginger was helpful answering questions and showing other pieces of art to give ideas of how to expand on what we learned.

So much fun. I enjoyed watching the thought process behind each piece chosen and placement. I learned a lot and signed up to take it again.

I did learn some things but the artist just worked on a piece w/o a real agenda or specific LEARNING of techniques. While she tried to have students engage and ask questions she did not really set the stage for this at the beginning of the workshop. Overall- workshop was Ok Would not take another course with this artist.

The class was very helpful and the instructor showed different Mixed Media Collage techniques.

I left early. Felt like I was just watching her make her project. Very little instruction, and even when I asked a question of how to make it like the one we saw when we signed up, she said she would show us later and then didn’t and we had to start gluing pieces down. I feel badly giving a poor review but I also wasn’t happy with my purchase.

Our instructor was fun and helpful! She encouraged us to look at what we might view as a “mistake,” as an opportunity to see the art in a different way or take it in a direction (we might not have thought of). I checked the class link an hr early and had no problem connecting with the instructor but, for some reason, I couldn’t get into the class for about 25 min. This is not a complaint because it easily could have been something on my end.
