Susan Izatt

Susan Izatt has been working with babies and toddlers, teaching kids, training teachers and developing early childhood programs for close to 20 years. The school has been and continues to be a true labor of love; fulfilling a dream creating a children's place, community and programs that help young children and families thrive and flourish. She is a co-founder and director of early childhood for the school. Her part includes working with teachers-artists, ongoing research, writing and developing creative curriculum's, parent consultations and seminars, and teacher training as well as supervision. Previous to this Susan was director of early childhood for aha play partners in New York city. She acted as both director and artist in residence (maintaining aesthetic beauty in the environment and documenting children's work) for this research based program; trained teaching staff, developed and built immersive environments in this Reggio Emilia inspired program. She also documented children's work and taught parent workshops. Before that spent 12 years beginning as a teacher, she was soon promoted to director of training and class program development for early learning concepts, inc., NYC, dc and va. She did teacher training and developed curriculum's, and launched their expansion to 13 gymboree franchise locations. Other favorite work includes various artists in residence teaching work, teacher and parent workshops at y's and other institutions on "how to think like a two year old" and other fun, creative education subjects. She graduated from Suny with a double major in early childhood education and theatre arts. Susan is a member of the national association for the education of young children, a licensed kinder musik educator, and a certified infant massage instructor. Also an active performance artist and painter. Married to a theatre production artist, Susan lives with her husband in the village in New York city.
