This was the most disappointing "class" I have ever signed up for. When someone signs up for a class, it is expected that they will be given some direct instruction about what the class subject is. And from reading the description, I was excited because this is something I have wanted to learn how to do. Unfortunately, that was not how this "class" was run. There were a few sample lettering styles photo copied papers on the tables for us to share and look at. Then with all the pens and pencils that were on the tables, we were told to experiment and practice. Practice what? I've never done this before! People at the tables were looking up different lettering techniques on their phones and working together to try to figure out how to do them. I can do that at home by myself and save myself the $40 class fee and the 2 hour commute I had. The only direct instruction that was given was how to do a watercolor background which was not what the main focus of the class was supposed to be. I believe it was called lettering art for a reason. I'm sad to say, it was a very disappointing experience. I usually don't write reviews. . .good or bad. . . .but I felt compelled to comment on this so called class.
This was my 1st art class. It was easy and straightforward. Wish there were more types of periodicals to choose from and appliqués. The ambience was sedate. Thought it would be more social. In any case, I tried something new. I'd do it again.
Great class! Would be interested in a multiple course class in watercolor
If you take this class just for enjoyment it's good. It seemed very quick and you don't learn any real technique.
Melanie M. gave this class 2 out of 5 CourseHorse stars.
