What you'll learn in this tasting class:

Guided Wine Tasting with Master Sommelier Craig Collins Featuring Tommasi Wines from the Veneto

On September 26th, we are thrilled to welcome Master Sommelier Craig Collins for a guided tasting of Tommasi wines, one of the most important quality producers in the Veneto since 1902. Whether you are brand new to Italian wines or want to dive a bit deeper in your studies, you won’t want to miss this special tasting. Craig will introduce you to five classic Tommasi wines from the Valpolicella region, including Amarone, one of Italy's most popular red wines ranking up there with Barolo and Brunello. Glass by glass, you’ll explore what sets each wine apart -- from grapes and terroir, to harvest, bottling, aging and more. Along the way, you’ll also learn about the Veneto region and the traditions and techniques of the vineyards in the area. In between wine tastings, you’ll enjoy two regionally inspired antipasti, prepared by the Chef of La Scuola.

In this class guests will:

  • Learn about Tommasi wines with special guest, Master Sommelier Craig Collins
  • Taste your way through five Tommasi wines
  • Enjoy 2 Antipasti dishes and a pasta, paired with the wines
  • Take home tasting notes for each wine tasted in class

About Tommasi: Tommasi has always been a standard bearer of the Amarone appellation, and one of the most important quality producers in the Veneto. Established in 1902 around the family home in Pedemonte in Valpolicella, the winery has grown and expanded into the choicest areas of the region under the guidance of the many generations of the Tommasi family. The winery is known above all for its classic approach to winemaking in Valpolicella, favoring elegance and balance, and paying homage to the winemaking tradition of the Veneto. Over the years, the family has steadily expanded its holdings into other Italian regions and now owns a total of 1,400 acres under vine between the Veneto, Tuscany, Puglia, Basilicata and Oltrepò Pavese. Just as they do in the Veneto, the Tommasis always honor the classic winemaking traditions of the regions in which they produce wine, allowing the unique terroir and defining characteristics of all regions shine through in the quality wines they produce.
